Gary Rhodes
Restaurant: Rhodes W1
Perhaps more than any other chef, Gary Rhodes has reinvigorated British cooking with his modern twist on the traditional. Gary's first culinary success was a Sunday roast he cooked for his family aged 13. Later, he enrolled at Broadstairs catering college in Kent, winning the award for student of the year. After qualifying, he moved to Amsterdam to work as a junior chef at the Hilton hotel.
Gary now has several restaurants in London and around the UK, including the Michelin starred Rhodes 24, atop the City's Tower 42. Gary says he has achieved many of his personal ambitions during his career, including cooking for the late Princess of Wales, the Jordan Formula One team and the Manchester United football team. But Rhodes' most enduring success has been his influence on the emerging, internationally recognised force of modern British cuisine.
You can try Gary's food by visiting Rhodes W1 at Taste of Christmas. He also be appearing in the AEG Taste Theatre at 3pm on Friday 2nd December, 5pm on Saturday 3rd December and 2pm on Sunday 4th December.
