Best in Show Cake Award
Inspired much by this year’s baking revival? Well Taste of Christmas in partnership with AEG (2-4 Dec) has announced its first ever Best in Show Cake Award, giving baking enthusiasts the chance to impress the public and the professionals with their fabulously festive creations.
Award winning master patissier Eric Lanlard, of the luxury cake boutique and baking school Cake Boy, will be hosting proceedings on Sunday 4th December at La Pâtisserie Peugeot Theatre, following his own baking demonstration, where he will share mouthwatering tips picked up from having worked with an impressive A-list clientele for over 15 years.
“There’s something about Christmas that inspires the baker in us all so I’m looking forward to being blown away at Taste of Christmas,” says Eric. “It’s important that people have fun when they’re in the kitchen so we haven’t set a brief as such, but we’ll be looking for taste, texture and of course that special festive feel to each creation.”
And it’s all to bake for with a brand new AEG Neue Kollektion steam oven at stake for the culinary competitors - technology that will bring the professional kitchen to your own home. Runners up will be rewarded with £100 worth of Waitrose vouchers and dinner for two at Rhodes W1.
Eric will be joined to judge the competition by Evening Standard food writer and features commissioning editor, Victoria Stewart to help select the best of the sweet treats on the day. To enter the competition send a brief description of your cake to www.tasteofchristmas.com/bestinshow
Baking legends Mary Berry and Rachel Allen will also be appearing at the show, joining some of the world’s biggest names including Jamie Oliver, Gary Rhodes, Mary Berry, Antony Worrall Thompson, Rachel Allen, Atul Kochhar, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Jean-Christophe, Paul A. Young, Theo Randall and Michel Roux Jr. to name just a few…..
A limited number of tickets will be available on the door from £22 but you can book your tickets in advance at www.tasteofchristmas.com
